Minimalist design does not exempt Lotus from warranty obligations. Under Song-Beverly, every warranted component must function properly. A manufacturer cannot use the vehicle's design philosophy to excuse defects in components it chose to include.
How does the mileage offset work for a low-mileage Elise lemon law claim?
The mileage offset is calculated by dividing the purchase price by 120,000 and multiplying by the number of miles driven before the first repair attempt. A low-mileage Elise will have a very small offset, resulting in a larger net refund.
