Does being an early adopter of the R2 affect my Lemon Law rights?
No, being an early adopter does not diminish your Lemon Law rights in any way. The Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act requires manufacturers to deliver vehicles that conform to their express warranties regardless of how new the model is. Rivian cannot use the fact that the R2 is a new platform as a defense against legitimate warranty defect claims.
Can Rivian void my R2 warranty for using a third-party home charger?
Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and California Song-Beverly, Rivian cannot void your entire warranty for using a third-party charger unless they can prove the charger directly caused the specific defect. Using a standard-compliant Level 2 home charger does not give Rivian grounds to deny your Lemon Law claim for unrelated vehicle defects.
